Course Overview

This course includes extensive data that some participants may find upsetting. With U.S. suicide rates rising and earlier efforts falling short, a new national suicide-prevention policy has emerged. Students will explore active and passive suicidality, especially in older adults, and build a practical toolkit to prevent and manage risk in independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing settings.

The course also reviews warning signs, highest-risk groups, and Canadian statistics and support resources.
