Alabama Effective August 1, 2011, a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) of the continuing education activities required for any licensure renewal period must consist of real-time participation in seminars, classes, workshops, presentations, training programs, or similar activities. Such real-time participation must involve licensee presence in the location of the activity as it occurs or use of interactive technology by the licensee for the activity as it occurs. Self-contained activities (e.g., recorded presentations, reading, online study) that do not feature opportunities for dialogue and interaction for the licensee as the activity occurs do not qualify as real-time participation in continuing education. Alaska Addiction counselors are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education (CEUs), including:

- 3 CE hours of ethics
- 3 CE hours of confidentiality

Arizona Addiction Counselors are required to complete a minimum of 30 clock hours total of continuing education (CEUs), A minimum of 3 clock hours (CEUs) in behavioral health ethics/mental health law A minimum of 3 clock hours (CEUs) in cultural competency/diversity. California A total of 50 hours of continuing education is required every two years for most CCAPP credentials*. These hours must include a minimum of 40 continuing education hours, of which six must be in ethics. Continuing education hours must be earned through a CCAPP approved provider with a current provider number. 10 hours may be earned in "professional development (professional development hours PDHs). PDHs do not have to be earned through CCAPP providers. The 50 hour requirement can be met with all CEH education, or any combination of hours, as long as the PDH portion is NOT MORE THAN 10 HOURS.

Please note any course over 10 CEUs/Contact Hours/Hours, must be completed over a 72 hour (or more) time period. Your certificate of completion will reflect the amount of time you took to complete and pass the course. For example, "Completed - July 7th - July 10th, 2018"

Connecticut Addiction Counselors are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education (CEUs). Continuing Education Deadline: Individual. District of Columbia Addiction Counselors are required to complete 40 contact hours of continuing education credit (CEUs) with 6 hours in Ethics and 3 hours in Trauma Counseling (The Ethics and Trauma Counseling courses must be face-to-face). Georgia Renewal of certification will be for a period of two (2) years. Re-certification will be based on acceptable documentation of 40 clock/contact hours of continuing education (CEUs) during the preceding term of certification. Of the 40 hours required, 20 hours must have a clearly visible GACA Provider Number, be in-classroom face-to-face continuing education. The remaining 20 hours may be other counseling-related topics. Illinois Forty (40) ICB approved continuing education units (CEUs) are required within the two-year certification period. For CSADCs and CAADCs Minimum 25 CEUs of education specific to Core Functions of AOD - six (6) of the 25 CEUs needed for Category II must be training received in how to provide clinical supervision.

CADCs who are also Licensed Private Practitioners, are required to only submit ten (10) Category I alcohol and other drug specific CEUs for recertification.

- At least 6 of the 60 CEUs shall be in suicide training, due once every 6 yrs

Minnesota Every two years, all licensees must complete a minimum of 40 clock hours of continuing education (CEUs) activities. The 40 clock hours shall included a minimum of 9 clock hours on diversity and a minimum of 3 clock hours on professional ethics. Nevada To maintain his licensure or certification, as appropriate, a counselor must attend at least 40 hours of continuing education during the 2-year period of licensure or certification, including, without limitation: (a) At least 3 hours of continuing education that pertain to ethics; and (b) At least 3 hours of continuing education that pertain to the standards of confidentiality required pursuant to NAC 641C.425 and, if applicable, the standards of confidentiality set forth in 42 C.F.R. (b) For licensed clinical supervisors, 6 hours of training in clinical supervision which may be incorporated into the hours needed for LADC re-licensure in the 24 months subsequent to the date of licensure or re-licensure.

(c) For certified recovery support workers, 12 hours of approved continuing education in the 24 months subsequent to the date of certification or re-certification.

Pennsylvania Board l requires, as a condition of biennial renewal of a professional counselor's license, the completion during the preceding biennium of 30 clock hours of continuing education ed providers which shall include at least 3 clock hours in ethical issues. Texas CE Requirements for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor License Renewal:

A LCDC who holds a master's or other advanced degree must complete at least 24 hours of continuing education during each two-year licensure period. The 24 hours of education must include the specific courses required by rule(see above).

A LCDC who does not hold a master's or other advanced degree must complete at least 40 hours of continuing education.

CE hours submitted in excess of your required amount will not be carried over to your next renewal.
