Course Overview

This course discusses aging with spinal cord injury. We will present changes to physiological systems attributed to a spinal cord injury related to chronological age and the aging process.



Course Objectives

  1. Identify and discuss changes to physiological systems that are:
    a. attributed to a spinal cord injury
    b. related to chronological age and the aging process, and
    c. caused as a result of their interaction.

  2. Review the social and psychological factors associated with aging with SCI.

  3. Discuss the relationship between sleep problems and aging with SCI including:
    a. Physiological factors
    b. Psychological factors, and
    c. Behavioral/environmental factors
